Leeds United: Whites conclude second January swoop
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2017 16:41 by Lucas Monk

Leeds United have officially confirmed via their Twitter account that 20 year-old Spaniard Alfonso Pedraza has joined the club from Villarreal of La Liga, initially on a loan basis.

The prodigious left winger arrives at Elland Road with a wealth of football pedigree, having graduated from the fabled Villarreal youth academy in addition to being a European Championship winner with Spain at U-19 level.

During the first half of the present season, Pedraza set the Spanish Segunda Division alight while sporting the colours of CD Lugo, netting six goals while laying on a further eight for his teammates prior to being recalled by his parent club Villarreal.

The winger has been awarded the number 20 shirt at Elland Road, previously worn by former Leeds striker Matt Smith throughout the 2013-14 season, who has today incidentally completed a move from Fulham to Queens Park Rangers.

Pedraza is unavailable for tomorrow night's visit to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, though he could make his United bow when the Whites travel to play-off rivals Huddersfield Town in a climacteric clash on Sunday.
