2 clubs charged and 1 fan banned
Tuesday, 7th Feb 2017 18:13 by Tim Whelan

Huddersfield Town and Leeds United are both facing FA charges, while the idiot who unfurled a Turkish flag has seen the last of the John Smith’s stadium for a while.

A statement on the FA website reads “Huddersfield Town and Leeds United have been charged following their game on February 5, 2017. It is alleged that in or around the 89th minute of the fixture, the two clubs failed to ensure their players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour, contrary to FA Rule E20(a).”

“Both managers have also been charged in relation to the same game. Huddersfield’s David Wagner is subject to two alleged breaches of FA Rule E3 in that in or around the 89th minute, his behaviour in entering the field of play amounted to improper conduct. It is further alleged his behaviour upon his return to the vicinity of the technical area amounted to improper conduct.”

“It is alleged that Leeds’ Garry Monk breached FA Rule E3 in that in or around the 89th minute, his behaviour amounted to improper conduct. All parties have until 6pm on 10 February 2017 to respond to the charges.”

It’s nice to know that Wagner is facing two charges to Monk’s one, but with Garry having already served a touchline ban this season (after disputing a couple of decisions at Bristol City) so our beloved head coach will have an anxious wait to see if he’s heading for further punishment.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield have handed an indefinite ban from the John Smith's Stadium to the man who unfurled a Turkey flag during the game. A cub statement said "Huddersfield Town takes incidents of this nature very seriously and will not tolerate this shameful behaviour under any circumstances. This individual is not representative of the club or its supporters."

Apparently the individual concerned is 59, so long past the age when he ought to know better. Time will not be on his side while he waits to see if the ban will ever be lifted, which hopefully won’t happen until he’s too old and decrepit to be able to cause any more mischief.

And the stadium ban might be the last of his worries, as West Yorkshire Police tweeted on Sunday that they would "be visiting him this week". Couldn’t happen to a nicer chap.
