Fawlty Towers Manuel the latest Spaniard to be linked with Leeds job!
Wednesday, 14th Jun 2017 17:19 by @markmonk

Meanwhile odds drop on fellow compatriots King Juan Carlos and Julio Iglesias.

It seems almost certain that Leeds United will unveil a Spanish born coach to succeed Garry Monk.

Yep it's nearly three-weeks since Garry got a right, royal "Monk On" over the new "continental" structure at the club and bid adios to Elland Road, in the meantime hes lined his pockets en-route to the Riverside.

As for his successor? well we fans well and truly "know nothing".

Despite initially speculating that Italian ownership equalled Italian coach, the odds appear to reflect speculation that Senor Radrizzani will look further West along the Mediterranean coastline to Spain, where his newly installed management team hail from.

Whilst Pep Clotet, Monk's assistant was an early front-runner the favourites have included the ambitious (Quique Flores-Sanchez) and the awful (Victor Sanchez).

However there was a new name on the block last night, a Spanish one of course! Fernándo Hierro, mainstay of the Real Madrid defence in the nineties and norties (including facing us in the 2nd group stages of the Champions League in 2001) who recently quit his job at Real Oviedo.

Alas this was the mischievous work of a Twitter Troll! However it fooled the bookies and no doubt a few mug punters as Hierro was the odds on favourite with Sky Bet by Tuesday bedtime.

Meanwhile Flores-Sanchez's employers Espanyol have rejected Leeds' advances on their man, so this leaves Victor Sanchez, the man sacked three times in two years as the front-runner.

Even the Yorkshire Evening Post ran a poll on whether or not the fans wanted him and it was 76% against when I last looked.

Give me Manuel from Fawlty Towers then, unfortunately the actor who played him Andrew Sachs died last year.

I know he's not Spanish but David Hockaday anybody?
