Sam joined Macc in the summer of 2010 after being released by Sheffield United.

A tough-tackling, defensive midfielder, who was converted into a central defender for much of the 2006-2007 campaign at Bramhall Lane.

Sam joined the blades from Worcester City midway through the 2005-06 campaign.

He became Worcester City's youngest ever goalscorer when he netted against Bemerton Heath Harlequins in an FA Cup second qualifying round in September 2005.

During his time at Worcester, Sam featured in the first and second round proper of the FA Cup.

Sam spent a couple of periods out on loan whilst at Sheffield Utd. He played for Mansfield Town and also had a spell in Hungary playing for Ferencváros.

Richard Butcher will be out of action for a month after picking up an injury during last weekend's 1-0 defeat at home to Shrewsbury Town.  The midfielder had a scan yesterday and it showed medial ligament damage.
