City To Begin Etihad Stadium Expansion Monday, 31st Mar 2014 17:28 Many City will start work on increasing the capacity of the Etihad Stadium to 54,000. The work on the South Stand site will begin immediately and will be ready by the start of the 2015-2016 season. It will see City offer £299 season tickets from the start of that season. Once completed, work will begin on developing the stadium's North Stand to take the overall capacity from its current 47,670 to 62,170. Engineering company Laing O’Rourke has been selected as the construction partner for the expansion and will make the Etihad Stadium the second largest stadium in the Premier League, it will also create 160 jobs, as well as up to 110 match day jobs in the first phase alone.
