City To Pay Their Respects
Friday, 11th Apr 2014 09:08

All matches will kick off seven minutes late this weekend as the football community marks the 25th Anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. And City will play their part at Sunday's showdown with Liverpool. The match is the closest the home side will play to 15 April, the date in 1989 when 96 Liverpool supporters were crushed to death at an FA Cup Semi-Final at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough stadium.

The manchester Evening news is said to understand that City have taken out an advertisement in the Liverpool match day programme. The ad is said to contain the crests of both clubs with the words "You'll Never Walk alone". It is also rumoured that a large flag bearing the same message will be passed over the City fans as well.

City legends Mike Summerbee and Joe Corrigan will also pass a wreath of red and blue roses to Kenny Daglish and In Rush.

A new inquest is currently under way for those who sadly lost their lives on that terrible day.
