Porto midfielder Fernando is set to be announced as Manchester City's first summer signing later on this week.

The 26 year old is set to move to The Etihad for around £16 million, its believed that Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna will also complete his free transfer later this week. City are hoping both deals can be completed before the start of the World Cup, Fernando is not involved but Sagna is part of the French team.

City tried to sign Fernando in the January transfer window along with team mate Eliaquim Mangala, It looks as if Pellegrini as one of his targets in Fernando, but a deal to bring Eliaquim Mangala to City is still some way off.
