Caballero Signs
Tuesday, 8th Jul 2014 11:37

Argentinian goalkeeper Willy Caballero has agreed a deal with City and has promised to challenge Joe Hart to be City's 1st choice keeper.

The former Malaga keeper has signed a 3 year deal and it is said the deal was for around £6m. A new keeper was required at City after Costel Pantilimon who was the number two joined Sunderland on a free transfer this summer. Caballero has insisted he is not arrived at City to sit on the bench and act as cover, but he is ready to challenge Hart and push him aside for the number one spot.

He told The Manchester Evening News:“I know I am coming to a big club with a very good goalkeeper. City already have a great goalkeeper in Joe Hart, but I will try and compete for the no.1 spot. I will do my best in the training sessions.

“I am very happy, and really looking forward to the start of pre-season and performing well to help the team.

“This is a new challenge and a new league for me. I have been doing well in the previous years and my goal is to go on and hopefully perform at the same level for City."

Pellegrini knows Caballero well from their time at Malaga.
