Kompany Cranks Up The Pressure On Liverpool
Wednesday, 20th Aug 2014 09:19

City skipper Vincent Kompany has warned our rivals Liverpool that with Champions League football to contend with this season they will find the Premier League a different competition. Liverpool pushed City to the final game last season, but after they had led the pack in the run they stumbled (literally) during the run in. City face Liverpool at the Eitihad this Monday and Kompany as jumped at the chance to crank up the pressure on them.

“When the Champions League comes in, the Premier League will be a different competition all over for Liverpool,” said Kompany to the Daily Mirror.

“It’s tricky for all the clubs that are involved in the Champions League because it will get more demanding as the weeks go on.”

Liverpool are playing in the Champions League for the first time since the 2009/10 season.

Kompany went on to speak about the upcoming fixture against Liverpool.

“It’s the first time for me that this home fixture comes so early in the season.

“But if we can perform like we did at Newcastle, we will be hoping to get the three points at home. Newcastle was important for us because it takes a lot of pressure away from the Liverpool game.”
