Sunday, 14th Sep 2014 18:15

Demichelis’ late header rescued a draw for City yesterday in thrilling game at the Emirates yesterday. City seemed to be heading home empty handed until Demichellis rose for a 84th minute City corner and scored.

City handed a debut to Frank Lampard to replace Toure in midfield, while Arsenal handed a start to Danny Welbeck.

City made the breakthrough in the 28th minute when Aguero met Jesus Navas's low cross with a delicate near-post finish. Arsenal had enjoyed the majority of the possesion only to be exposed by City's clinical finishing.

After the break Arsenal responded well. Wilshere equalised in the 63rd minute, gathering a pass from Ramsey, drifting past Clichy, and lifting a cool shot over City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Eleven minutes later the England midfielder's header set up new signing Sanchez to crash an emphatic volley into the top-right corner from around 12 yards.

Arsenal's Debuchy then had tobe stretchered off following an awkward landing that required him to be given oxygen.

City seemed to heading for their second successive defeat when Demichelis met Kolarov's left-wing corner with a pinpoint header to bring City level.

City came closest to snatching victory, with Kolarov hitting the post, Arsenal defender Koscielny seeing a misjudged clearance hit the frame of his own goal, and Szcesny saving from Dzeko.
