"It Was Just A Joke" Says Toure Sunday, 21st Sep 2014 15:09 Yaya Toure has spoke out about Cakegate. He revealed his demands for a birthday cake were meant to be taken as a joke, and admits he was surprised by the reaction. The comments were made by his agent, Dimitri Seluk, in which he criticised the club for failing to present him with a birthday cake last May. Yaya initially backed his agents every word but now claims it was all meant as a joke. Speaking to BBC's Football Focus he said; "There was a lot of speculation about birthday cakes and rubbish like that," he told BBC’s Football Focus."It was disappointing for me because a little joke became serious. "I've been in Manchester for four years now and I have never demanded a birthday cake. "I was quite surprised about the way people reacted to that and how seriously they took it. I’m a father. I have a few kids and sometimes I miss their birthday. I don’t care about my birthday." Toure has been criticised for his slow start this season. What do you think Blues? Was he serious?
