Saturday, 20th Dec 2014 09:36

Pellegrini has confirmed that Frank Lampard wants to extend his loan at Eastlands. City have been having ongoing discussions with their sister club New York City FC over the 36-year-old’s future. Lampard is due to join the American club at the end of the month to prepare for the MLS season.

The former Chelsea star has scored six goals so far this season for City including important goals against his former and club and snatching City's second in the 2-0 defeat of Roma earlier this month.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News Pellegrini had this to say;“I am positive. I think Frank is a very important player. I hope he will continue here from now until the end of the season.”

Asked if Lampard has stated he wanted to stay at the club he said;“Yes, he has.”

“It is not just our decision.

“If you ask me if I want Frank to stay, of course I want him to stay.

“He is a very important player for our squad and he is playing very well as the top player he is.

“Maybe in the next days we will be sure, but I cannot be 100 percent at this moment.”
