Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is set to launch an audacious raid on his old club in a bid to sign Bosnian International Edin Dzeko on loan. City are expected to complete the signing of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City for around £28 million over the next few days and Hughes is now hoping to capitalise on his signature.

Stoke currently sit 11th in the Premier League and Hughes see's Dzeko as the man to give them a boost if they are to mount a serious assault on the top six.

Dzeko has scored 69 goals in 172 games since moving to the Etihad in 2010 from Wolfsburg.
