Bony Eyes Champions League Glory
Thursday, 15th Jan 2015 09:20

Wilfried Bony as vowed his best is yet to come after sealing his transfer to City from Swansea this week. Bony said that is was the lure of Cha-pions League football that prompted his decision to leave Seansea for the Premier League Champions.

Bony is away on international duty at the moment with the Ivory Coast in the African Cupof Nations so his City debut will be delayed. He is eligible to play in the Champions League, starting with the first leg of City's last 16 tie against Barcelona on 24 February.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News he said;"It is a great decision for me because Manchester City play in the Champions League and if I was going to leave it was going to be to a team in that competition," Bony said. "It is a competition I want to win because it is a great competition."

Bony feels the Citizens have what it takes to do just that;"Why not? City is a big club with great players and we just have to be ready for that game," the striker said. "I felt excited to wait for this moment to join City and now it's come, it's fantastic.

"As a player it's always good to be part of one of the biggest clubs in the world and it's a good opportunity for me to be in that situation now - I'm really proud. It's a great feeling for me, it's a big honour to be here and it's a great challenge.

"I can bring what the club and the coach expect from me. They see I have certain qualities. The Premier League is a tough league and my power is always to be in the box in the right position.

"I speak with Yaya Toure every day and he will help me to become a better player. It is an opportunity for me to develop. There will be more pressure than before I went to Swansea, which was difficult when I was moving from Holland, but now I know the league so I will be stronger."

Bony has signed a four-and-a-half year contract at the Etihad Stadium and will wear the number 14 shirt. His fee could rise as high as £28million.
