Jovetic Makes Way For Bony
Friday, 6th Feb 2015 13:57

Manchester City have left striker Stevan Jovetic out of their Champions League squad to accommodate new £25million signing Wilfried Bony. That decision seemed to indicate the beginning of the end for Jovetic at City, with the Montenegro striker having started just 18 games in 19 months since joining for £22m from Fiorentina, but Manuel Pellegrini as assured the Jovetic that he still has faith in him.

"It's always difficult to take a player out of the list, but we have restrictions this year," said Pellegrini.

"We also bought Wilfried Bony, because we needed another striker, a box player, and so in the position of Jovetic we maybe have another option.

"It was a difficult decision but I think it was the best one for the squad."

"It's very important now for Stevan to play as many games as he can, to not be injured and have a high performance level whenever he plays. the Chilian told the Daily Mirror.

"After the decision we will analyse, not just Stevan but all of the squad, which ones will continue next season.

"So I don't think one thing has any relation with the other.

"Maybe if we didn't have the restrictions of FFP, we would have another place, but we have those restrictions.

"But Stevan is a good professional and I am sure we will see him play well in the Premier League."
