Rod Hull And Emu - It's The Southend Preview

Feedback must have been good if you are back then?

I haven't a clue to be honest. Couple of people mentioned they liked it - nobody else actually said anything so I assume it must have been okay. Either that or they are too ashamed to admit they read my first effort.

Big game tomorrow then?

No, big games are what Willy Gueret has - he has a massive c remember. That's a big game.

Yeah, yeah, you know what I mean?

I do indeed and yes it is a big game. If they win, they go up again, if we win, then we probably won't guarantee anything although Forest losing would suit you sir.

Big crowd?

Less oxygen. Well, that's not strictly true but you know what I mean. The Swans have been upping this all week and are expecting a sell out but the cynic in me cannot see it happening. Maybe just under 19,000. Which is still alot. But not as many as it could be. But more than your average League One side. And more than your average championship side for that matter. Shame promotions aren't won on size. But that's enough of Willy and his massive c again.

Must be using stereotypes this week?

Apples and Pears - get funny stares. Buying a Bundle - two goals for Trundle. Living in Tring - Knight on the wing. No, no stereotypes. The Tranmere Massive say they are old and stale but then relegation battles tend to remove your sense of humour. But for the record jellied eels, pearly kings and queens and all that are off limits for the preview. They're not cockneys you know.

So it's a must win game then?

So has pretty much every game been since Christmas. The problem I have with must win games is we invariably lose them. Therefore this is a must lose game - reverse psychology you see. I know what I'm doing

I remain to be convinced on that front, but if you think it will work.....

Well, we've tried just about everything else so it has to be worth a shot. And if it doesn't work someone else is bound to screw up somewhere - they nearly always do.

Team News?

Monk is back from his vow of silence (bad back) whilst there seems to be little else injury news coming from the stadium. That could mean a side almost at full strength which is good news. Well, you would think so anyway. I would go back to the basics and pick the side that did so well at the start of the season. You know, picking a winning side. Seems a novel idea. Do you think it will catch on!!!

And for them?

Freddy is the man. Fires them to some incredible victories with fantastic personal performances. Thought he was a cricketer though.

Eastwood not Flintoff.

Oops, he's the bloke that came from nowhere and scored against us within four seconds or something. Right?

Yes, right.

Reverse psychology again. Normally we try to mark people like that but they still find space. So this time we aren't going to try at all and hope that it confuses him into submission. I think it could work.

Any predictions?

If it's as warm as they predicted earlier in the week I may get a burnt nose. Other than that, I don't make predictions - I'm not mystic bloody meg you know. 2-1 Swansea.
