Saints Get Two Players In PFA Team Of The Year
Monday, 28th Apr 2014 09:35

Saints good season has been honoured with the inclusion of two players in the PFA team of the year.

It was great to see both Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw named in the PFA team of the year on Sunday and this could be the forerunner of both being included in the squad for the forthcoming World Cup in Brazil.

However although this is an honour for the players themselves and of course something that reflects well on us as a team, lets hope that it doesnt stir up more transfer rumour over the coming weeks.

Both had also been in the running for an individual award, player of the year in the case of Lallana and young player of the year in respect of Shaw, sadly neither won with Luis uarez taking the main award and Eden Hazard the latter.

In the PFA Team of the year Lallana and Shaw were in exhalted company as well as Vincent Kompany

Premier League Team of the Year: Petr Cech (Chelsea), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Vincent Kompany (Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Seamus Coleman (Everton), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Yaya Toure (Man City), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Luis Suarez (Liverpool), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool).

rumors are inevitable the internet press being the crap it really is we will be lucky to have a team left by the end May. Bit of a worry that we are not being linked with any players at all, is there a bit of a campaign to destabilize Saints who are now seen as something as a threat to the status quo?

Another Saint for the Brazil trip? - Interesting comment in the Guardian about Nate today ...``Southampton's right-back has had to battle the exciting Calum Chambers for a starting spot all season but he was excellent against the tricky but frustrating Gerard Deulofeu – diligent, committed, quick, strong in the tackle and always willing to get forward. Right-back is not a position where England are especially strong at the moment – could Clyne be the answer?``

Interesting comment that montechristo!

I have heard a few people coming up with that conspiracy theory. I'd like to think it is subconscious, and to do with the old preconceptions, but Scudamore did make some remarks recently in the Far East about how damaging Man Utd's poor season is for the Premier League 'brand', and hoped they would be back 'where they belong' soon. Apart from that being a disgraceful comment to make if you are in charge of a fair competition, I think there is some concern that Saints are only a few signings away from breaking into the cosy little club. How will they sell shirts in Hong Kong if that happens!
