Salisbury Fc Rise From The Ashes
Tuesday, 28th Apr 2015 14:19

As many will know Salisbury FC have risen from the ashes of the debacle that saw Salisbury City FC go under.

Salisbury FC play their first game tonight at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium this evening when AFC Totton have the honour of being the opposition.

Fitting given the issues that the Stags themselves have had over the past few years.

Last season the old club were in the football conference but found themselves thrown out and the subsequent shenanigans with the owner saw Salisbury without a football team bearing the city's name this season.

The first step towards getting the team back was reforming the club under the new name of Salisbury FC, the second step has been to agree a return to the RaymondMcEnhill Stadium with the trustees and now the third step is to actually play a game.

That third step comes tonight when manager Steve Claridge puts out his side against Totton on Tuesday night with a 7.30pm kick off, supporters are invited to pay what they like for the game and again at their second friendly on Friday night against Gosport Borough.

Claridge will put out a team of trialists eager to be potentially part of his squad for next season, although just where the Whites will play in the non league pyramid is still uncertain.

However a good crowd and result against AFC Totton will certainly strengthen their case the following morning when they go before the FA to make a presnetation as to why they should be allowed to go back into the National League pyramid system for the 2015/16 season.

Good luck to Salisbury and their supporters.
