Too soon to go up to the Premiership? Not according to Chief Executive David McNally.

Last year, in Division One, Norwich City earned just £1m from the central fund. This year that figure is set to be £4.9m. One year in the Premier League is woth more than 10 times that amount.

There is a prize of £800,000 awarded to the 20th placed side, increasing by the same amount for each postition. So if you are 19th you get £1,600,000, and 18th (where we finished the last time), the prize is £2,400,000, and so on.

Television money last season netted each club a further £14.6m, with an additional £10m from overseas television rights and with parachute payments worth almost £18m in year one, almost £15m in yeqar two and £8m each for the third and fourth years. Then sponsorship deals in the 2009-19 season averaged at £2.5 m.

Then, of course, there is the additional income from merchandise sales and ticket sales.

In all, McNally reckons that just one year in the Premier League is worth £90m to Norwich City.

So the board intends to back Paul Lambert to the hilt in order to benefit from the fortunate league position the club is in at the moment.

Things certainly have a rosy glow to them in all things Norwich City. This year seems to be more promising to that time Norwich went top of the league at Portman Road.
