TRANSFER: Agent confirms Reading's Andersen hopes to join Pompey soon
Thu 19th Jul 2012 18:10 by Pompey News

Mikkel Andersen's agent has confirmed the Reading goalkeeper is hoping for a move to Pompey in the near future.

Reports in the Danish press suggest the 23-year-old will join Pompey once their current transfer embargo is resolved. Andersen is currently on tour with Reading in Portugal.

Simon Miotto, his agent, told bold.dk: 'Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton is a good friend and he is committed to create a winning team that can move quickly back into the Championship and he wants Mikkel to be its keeper on the team. Some things must be clarified at Portsmouth, before he can be allowed to assemble his team, but hopefully it goes okay soon - perhaps within a few days.

'Reading has been really, really good to Mikkel and he's been at a fantastic club. At the same time Reading recognise that Mikkel has been loyal to the club and it's time for him to go out and play and develop. We hope that everything goes okay, so all parties are satisfied .

'In the last 12 months have been contacted by numerous clubs who want Mikkel on loan, but Reading have needed him, and it Mikkel fully respected that. There have been inquiries from Danish clubs too, and Mikkel has been very ready to go to Denmark on loan, especially after the U21 European Championships, where Mikkel felt well received and processed.

'But things never went any further, but who knows, the option ofn the Super League for Mikkel might arise again in the future.'

Pompey are current in Spain preparing for the new season, with a host of triallists at the club. However, until some more of the club's high-wage earners depart, Appleton's hands are tied about bringing players in permanently.
