Striker happy to keep Pompey's boss quiet this time Wednesday, 26th Feb 2014 23:01 by pompey-fans.com staff Jake Jervis said Pompey's players were delighted to show Richie Barker they were better than their display at Scunthorpe at the weekend suggested with victory over Accrington. The striker scored a special goal early in the second half to earn the Blues their second straight home win and said afterwards the squad were relieved to put the Glanford Park experience behind them. Jervis told the Pompey website: 'It was a great win for the team and a fantastic response from the weekend. I haven’t got enough shots off in the games that I’ve played, so I thought I’d go for it and the ball ended up in the bottom corner. 'I’m happy to score one that’s a little different and it’s the first one that’s got us a win instead of a draw. It’s a great feeling. We had to put the last result out of our minds and just go out onto the pitch and focus on getting the victory. 'The manager said his bit at the weekend and that was justified because it wasn’t good enough. But we worked hard in training on Monday and it gave the lads the confidence to try to prove him wrong.'
