It's perhaps no surprise after three straight wins - but nevertheless, Pompey will be delighted Saturday's home clash with Bristol Rovers is on course to be a sell-out.

On Wednesday, the club reported there were fewer than 1,000 tickets remaining for Saturday' s match.

The Fratton End is sold out and a lot of the remaining seats are in the Family Section.

Tickets can be bought online, by calling (023) 9277 8559 or in person from the Frogmore Road ticket office, which is open from 10am-5pm on Thursday and 10am-4pm on Good Friday.

The news comes as chairman Iain McInnes promises an increased player budget for 2014-15.

He told The News the board realised the importance of shelling out for a team and squad capable of doing well, not just surviving.

McInnes said: 'Next year, what we have learnt, is if you don’t give people reason to come and watch then it doesn’t matter how generous presidents want to be or how much commercial income you want to sustain

‘Any prospective manager worth his salt is going to come and say: “Well, what have I got with a budget to play with?'

‘Well, the answer is a better one than this year and good enough to be competitive.’
