Midfielder delighted to be coming back to Fratton

It's a simple double aim but one you can't really argue with. Midfielder Danny Hollands is targeting goals and victories after committing to Pompey for the next two seasons.

The former Charlton man is delighted to be coming back to Fratton after a successful loan spell at the end of the season.

Hollands told the club website: 'The loan spell went really well. I was really pleased with how things went on and off the pitch and it’s good to be back. The fans were fantastic and the results went well — I can’t really complain about anything.

'Playing in front of 18,000 fans is great at any level and they’re probably the best supporters I’ve played in front of. I’m sure they’ll come back in force again next season and play their part as the 12th man.

'This is a massive club that is starting to move in the right direction and it’s a good project for me to be involved in. I can’t wait to get started here next season.

'League Two is tough. Sometimes you can get the ball down and play and at other times you just have to scrap it out. But the important thing is that we have a good pre-season so that we’re ready to go for that first game.'

Hollands was pleased to score five goals in seven games and added: 'It was a big tally and I surprised myself, although it’s important for me to get my fair share to help the team. But there’s a lot of quality in the squad and my first focus is just to make sure I’m in the team.

'If I can get out on the pitch then I can look at getting some goals and collecting some victories to push us forward.'
