Where will Lions recruit fit into Pompey's plans? Wednesday, 6th Aug 2014 22:27 by pompey-fans.com staff Experienced Millwall defender Paul Robinson has joined Pompey on a month's loan and is expected to go straight into the side for the League Two opener at Exeter on Saturday. Boss Andy Awford has moved for the 32-year-old, a big fans' favourite with the Lions, amid concerns over the defensive strength in his squad. Eight goals conceded in friendlies against Ebbsfleet, Bournemouth and Charlton seem to have prompted the signing but it is not clear what Awford sees as his first-choice line-up at the back - although the pairing of Robinson and Ben Chorley would seem the most likely in the centre. Robinson has made 362 appearances for Millwall since his debut in 2002, with 27 appearances last season. Awford told the Pompey website: 'He's an experienced Championship centre-back - and that's an area where we're a bit light on numbers. I'm looking forward to working with Paul and we're grateful to Millwall for loaning him to us.'
