Whether it will be a reunion with ex-Blues Asmir Begovic, Peter Crouch or Marc Wilson remains to be seen, with many Premier League clubs unlikely to play full-strength teams in the early rounds. Pompey have played Stoke twice in the League Cup - in 1985 and 2009 - and have beaten them each time.
