Awford tells team: Feed the forwards Thursday, 16th Oct 2014 22:39 by pompey-fans.com staff Andy Awford wants to see his forwards given much better service at Bury on Saturday than they received in the first hour against Mansfield last week. The Pompey manager told the club website: 'The problem wasn’t up front last Saturday — it was getting the ball up to them. I always say the big worry is if you’re not creating chances and for an hour we weren’t. 'It’s not always the person on the ball’s fault — he might not have someone to pass it to. We needed someone to grab the game by the scruff of its neck and thankfully that’s what Nigel (Atangana) did when he came on. 'What I’m after at Bury is the last half-an-hour performance against Mansfield, which was very good. The amount of chances we created in that spell meant we probably should have won the game, despite what went before. 'So the message has been continue what you did then and let’s make sure that first hour doesn’t happen again. We’ve reminded them of what they need to do and everyone’s been working very hard on the training ground.'
