Hard work can turn it around for Pompey
Hard work can turn it around for Pompey

Only hard work on the training ground can improve Pompey's dismal away form.

So says Ryan Taylor after Andy Awford's team contrived to hand Tranmere only their second home win in 10 games. It finished 3-1 to Rovers on Saturday after a Pompey comeback had come to nothing.

Taylor told the Pompey website: 'It’s hard for us to take, but we have to pick ourselves up and be ready to go again in a fortnight’s time. It does it make that bit harder that we’ve got to wait two weeks for our next game — we’d like to play on Tuesday.

'At home we seem to have promotion form, but we just can’t get going when we’re away. It was up to us to take the game to Tranmere, but they got an early goal and took confidence from that.

'They were on the ropes after Jed scored, though, and we started to pass the ball around a lot better, but ultimately we lost the game. The only way we’re going to turn things around is by working hard on the training pitch.

'It’s not easy after a defeat, but we have to pull our socks up and make sure we stay positive.'
