East won't let Pompey comeback hopes go west Wednesday, 10th Dec 2014 23:49 by pompey-fans.com staff Danny East wants a New Year return to Pompey's first team. The utility man played for the reserves on Tuesday as he stepped up his comeback from a pelvis injury. His latest spell on the sidelines followed time out with neck and ankle injuries last season. East told The News he had feared the worst while trying to get over the latest injury: ‘I was told I might not make it back again,' he said. ‘After a few months, I said “What are my chances?” The physio, Sean Duggan, said “It’s a crazy injury and you might not get back”. ‘But he told me he would do everything in his power to get me fit again. I just want to thank him and the medical staff for helping me get back playing. It felt pretty good to be in a game again. ‘I felt a bit tired but there was just a feeling of massive relief to get back out on the pitch again. Now I will start stepping things up and hopefully start challenging for a first-team place in January.’
