Andy Awford's Januaey rebuild looks like falling into place in time for Saturday's trip to Newport as Paul Robinson and Matt Tubbs edge closer to Fratton deals.

Robinson has been released early from his Millwall contract and looks certain to make his move to Pompey a permanent one this week.

Tubbs' switch to PO4 is less certain but the Blues do appear favourites to nab him, with Luton also interested, after Bournemouth ended his loan spell at AFC Wimbledon after their FA Cup exit to Liverpool.

Robinson has been at The Den since 2001. He captained the team for a spell and scored the winner in Millwall's League One play-off win over Swindon in 2010. He played 362 times for the Lions.

He has been one of Pompey's most consistent performers this season.

Tubbs has been in the game for eight years and has an impressivs strike rate, with 121 goals in 223 starts and 60 subs' appearances.

He made his name at Salisbury, during which time he went on loan to Bournemouth, but it was at Crawley where he really impressed - scoring 58 goals in 73 games.

Tubbs signed for Bournemouth three years ago and has since had loan spells with Rotherham and Crawley, as well as AFC Wimbledon.

Pompey are certainly due some incoming players after allowing loan players Miles Storey, Alex Wynter, Matt Fish and Lee Holmes go back to their clubs and Ricky Holmes move on loan to Northampton.
