There's been a mixed reaction to news that Andy Awford is staying for now.

Fans remain split over whether Awford should go less than a year after taking over the team, or be given longer to turn the team's fortunes around.

A board meeting was held today to discuss the manager's future and after what appeared to be lengthy talks, the upshot was there was no decision to sack him.

It is noew known if Awford has been given a deadline to bring about improvements in results.

The talks came after a 2-1 home defeat to Southend, which extended the winless run to more than two months. In that time the Blues have lost three and drawn one at home, where previously their form had been strong.

It is believed the day-long talks involved the board, Mark Catlin, Awford and Gary Waddock.

Pompey's next test is another stiff one - away to leaders Wycombe on Saturday.
