Jubilant Jed keeps Pompey's fires burning Saturday, 14th Feb 2015 21:11 by pompey-fans.com staff Jed Wallace made up for a late penalty miss with an even later winner as Pompey made it eight points from 12 and kept a fourth clean sheet to beat Exeter 1-0. The Blues, unchanged for the third game in a row, looked lively from the word go although Exeter were playing a full part in an entertaining clash that was so much better than the midweek draw at Dagenham. Matt Tubbs and Wallace tested Grecians keeper Christy Pym and then Josh Passley - who has impressed in every game since joining Pompey on loan from Fulham - rattled the crossbar. Passley had a tight hamstring and was replaced by Andy Barcham at the start of the second half. Wallace tried his best to unlock the City defence and then James Dunne saw a shot come back off the underside of the crossbar. Pompey were awarded a penalty with 16 minutes left when Tubbs was brought down by Christian Ribeiro. The defender was booked - some felt he was the last man and should have seen red - but he escaped, and so did Exeter when Wallace skied his spot-kick. Exeter had their best spell of the game in the final few minutes but their endeavour was all for nothing when Wallace picked the ball up and ran into the box before firing low past Pym. Pompey had to play out another three minutes or so but did so without too many problems to make it two home wins a row. Cambridge United await at the Abbey Stadium next week.
