Andy Awford has heaped praise on Ryan Taylor for the scoring run that has helped bring Pompey's season back to life.

Four goals in five games has been a far cry from a spell earlier in the season when the former Bristol City couldn't buy a goal for anything.

Awford told The News: ‘Ryan’s had that run of games, he has been consistent now and I think his level of performance has been good. I don’t know if you read my programme notes against Oxford when I praised him, I don’t like singling individual players out, you know that, but he has done very well for us.

‘I am delighted he got another goal for us onto his tally at Accrington, he’s there to put it in which is what a centre forward should do. I wouldn’t say he has got more confidence now, I think he has been excellent all season.’

Meanwhile Danny East has extended his loan spell at Aldershot by another month. The 23-year-old began his latest spell with the Shots by playing their 1-1 draw at home to Halifax.

He has gone to north Hampshire to aid his return to full fitness after a succession of injuries.
