Awford brings in new bodies at the back Thursday, 19th Mar 2015 21:19 by pompey-fans.com staff Pompey will head to face AFC Wimbledon boosted by the arrival of two new defenders in the squad. It follows injuries to Paul Robinson and Jack Whatmough that left Andy Awford severely short of bodies at the back. Nyron Nosworthy and Cole Kpekawa have joined on loan until the end of the season. Nosworthy, 34, arrives from Blackpool, Kpekawa, 18, from QPR. Nosworthy told the Pompey website: 'I spoke to the manager and he made me feel very welcome and confident,. I'm looking forward to finishing the season strongly and playing in front of 15,000 fans every other week.' Kpekawa told the club site: 'I can't wait to get out in front of such big crowds and gain more first team experience for such a massive club.' Awford said: 'Nyron has a wealth of experience and will give us a presence that we miss with Paul Robinson and Jack Whatmough both out injured. Cole is young, energetic and a good athlete. He gives us options across the defence and is left-sided, so offers a bit of balance.' Awford fears both Robinson (fractured cheekbone) and Whatmough (knee ligaments) will be out for the rest of the season. Pompey have nine games left and head to South London eight points off a play-off place.
