One striker out - another wants to be in at Pompey
One striker out - another wants to be in at Pompey

As one striker leaves Fratton, another pushes his claims for a first-team starting spot.

On the way out of the door is Patrick Agyemang, whose spell of just over two years at Pompey has been ended by mutual agreement.

Agyemang has been well down the pecking order this season and has not even been on the bench since the FA Cup defeat at Aldershot in November.

The former Wimbledon striker's last start for the Blues was at Hartlepool and in recent weeks there has been no hint of another chance for him with Matt Tubbs, Ryan Taylor, Craig Westcarr and Paul McCallum all ahead of him in Andy Awford's plans.

In total Agyemang scored eight goals in 69 Pompey appearances.

McCallum, meanwhile, showed Awford what he was capable of by firing a hat-trick in the reserves' win over Leyton Orient.

The West Ham loanee scored all Pompey's goals as they beat the London visitors 3-1, with Wes Fogden and Josh Passley also playing key roles and suggesting to the management they are worth a start following Saturday's defeat to AFC Wimbledon.
