Paul Robinson says he is already looking forward to Pompey's new start.

The defender missed the end of the season with a fractured cheekbone but will be fully fit and ready to join in with pre-season under a new manager.

He told the Pompey website: 'I was disappointed with the way things ended and having to sit out of the last few matches. It was frustrating for me and I feel like I’ve had my break already — I’m already raring to go and looking forward to being back out there.

'Like everyone, I’ll be looking to get away and spend a bit of time with the family first. But with a new manager coming in, I’m sure we’ll all be working hard over the summer to make sure we’re in good shape.

'We’ll be looking to impress the new man — whoever he is — when we return for the start of pre-season. There are a few guys out of contract, but even those who aren’t will be starting with a clean slate.'

Robinson described Pompey's season and 16th place finish as 'rather underwhelming' and added: 'Hopefully we can put together a campaign that everyone will enjoy.'
