Paul Hardyman wants to find out more about the role reportedly being offered to him at Fratton before deciding whether he has a Pompey future.

The former Blues left-back, who became first-team boach when Andy Awford too over as manager, told The News: ‘I would like some clarity on the role. I’m not sure what is going to happen.

‘Until I know what it’s about I’m going to be unsure of my future I still feel I’ve got a role to play at the club, but, until it’s defined, I really don’t know where I stand.’

Hardyman will be in a minority of one if he does find a new job at the club after being told he is no longer wanted in the first-team set-up by new manager Paul Cook.

Awford, Alan McLoughlin, Gary Waddock and Andy Melville have all left Pompey - the former two after being talked about as people who could take on other roles at the club.

Nine players have also been released, with the departures of Ryan Taylor and Wes Fogden the most surprising.
