Season takes shape for Pompey - and so does squad

Pompey's 2015-16 season is starting to take shape - and so is their team.

The Blues have been drawn at home to Derby County in the first round of the Capitol One Cup and will find out their league fixtures on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Paul Cook could have another three new signings wrapped up within a few days.

One is already signed up - left-back Enda Stevens has signed on the dotted line. The 24-year-old Irishman opted for Pompey over Doncaster after being released by Aston Villa.

Now it looks like Chesterfield attacking midfielder Gary Roberts - a key man for Cook in the Spireites' rise through the leagues - will be a Pompey player within days.

And Sheffield United midfield man Michael Doyle is also reported by The News to be nearing a move.

If all the deals go through, it would give Cook an impressive strike rate in securing players hae had targeted for the League Two promotion bid.
