Gary Roberts' knee injury does not look like it's serious.

Fans feared the worst when the key new signing was hurt in Friday's 1-1 draw at Bognor, where he headed home with his knee in a brace.

But although he played no part in the next day's 3-2 win at Gosport, he was present and did not seem to be badly affected.

Pompey boss Paul Cook told The News: 'Gary had a knee problem so everyone fears the worst but sometimes with these injuries, you need to give them 24 hours to settle down. It seems a lot better. We haven’t had the scan.

‘So he will work with Sean Duggan and the phsyio’s team but I don’t think a scan is a necessity at the moment. The physio knows more than me but he seems okay, which is good news.’

Pompey's next pre-season test comes against League One side Coventry at Havant on Tuesday night and they may have another new face in their ranks for that one.

Reports from both Ipswich and Pompey sources say the Blues are in for teenage Tractor Boys centre-half Matt Clarke on loan.
