Kyle Bennett says he's happy to be the man the fans expect to work wonders for Pompey.

There's already a feeling that if Bennett plays well, Pompey well, which can put pressure on a young player.

But he has no qualms about such expectations and speaking to The News ahead of Saturday's trip to Luton, he said: ‘I love the fact the fans think I’m that kind of player. It’s great. I like to deal with that pressure.

‘A bad performance last Saturday isn’t going to change my mindset on that — and hopefully it doesn’t change their mindset. I will come out every game, give my all and try to create things for the team.

‘You know when you’ve played well and you know when you’ve played badly. You have to be critical of yourself but at the same time get on with it. One bad performance doesn’t reflect the player you are.

‘People may get on your back — but you have to be positive minded and go out there and show what you can do. No one wants you to go out on the pitch and play badly — neither do I! So you come out the next game fighting and showing what you can do.’

The Blues head to Kenilworth Road in sixth place, with Luton having had a surprisingly-poor start. The Hatters have only taken two points from the first four games but most think they will pick up soon.
