Scorer Adam McGurk admitted after helping Pompey beat Barnet: I'm not sure where my best position is.

McGurk played up front against Barnet - as the lone striker for some of the game-and did well, scoring the second in a 3-1 win. And he says he doesn't mind where he operates, as long as he is playing and Pompey are winning.

He told the Pompey website he was delighted to help the side beat the Bees. He had no doubt his goal was correctly allowed to stand, despite Barnet daying it should have been ruled out for Kyle Bennett being offside. And he praised his fellow scorer Conor Chaplin.

McGurk said: 'I’m happy just playing — if you’re out on the pitch and winning then you don’t really care where you are. I don’t think I actually know my best position, so I’ll just go wherever the manager wants to use me.

'Going a goal down was a bad start, but we showed good character to fight back and get the victory. We really need to win because the previous two home games hadn’t gone the way we wanted.

'Barnet were complaining that Benno was offside for my goal, but he didn’t interfere with play and I gambled and put it in. I’m delighted for Conor. He has a brilliant attitude and is always doing extra work in training, which is what you want to see from young players.

“We were up against big and physical defenders and didn’t play as well as we can, although created quite a few chances in the second half. Hopefully as the season goes on and we train together more as a team, then we can improve further.'
