Conor Chaplin has attracted the attention of Liverpool and Derby in his scintillating start to the season.

The 18-year-old has been one of the shining lights of Pompey's good start to the campaign, scoring League Cup goals against Reading and Derby and a league double against Barnet.

On Tuesday he scored twice as Pompey beat Reading 3-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their Copnor Road training ground.

Chad Field opened the scoring before Chaplin's double - the second a sublime free kick.

Pompey fans will be concerned to hear of interest from higher divisions, but probably not surprised. The club will be steeling themselves for Jaunary transfer window bids.

The Blues will hope to keep hold of him at least until the end of the season, or possibly longer-term, with the prospect having just signed a new long-term contract at Fratton.
