Richard Money is glad Cambridge are playing Pompey this weekend - because he says playing the best brings out the best.

Cambridge have had a mixed start to the season and lost 6-2 at home to the Blues last season.

Money, an ex-Pompey defender, said: 'At the minute I feel it is the type of game that the club and the football team needs because we are all still waiting but are confident that our full potential will come.

'Playing against the best means that you have to play your best and if both teams can do that, then it will be a cracking game. When you look at the fixture list, you look for certain games and simply because they are the biggest club in the division, Portsmouth always attracts the eye.

'This home game and the one next week against Northampton are the types of games that can really get you going, rebuild belief and confidence and then gain momentum. We know we have to play well this weekend and I’m sure that will lift the players to the performance we need and give the crowd something to admire and cheer about.'

Paul Cook has repeated his 'just keep going' mantra as he sets his side up for the visit to Cambridge. He was disappointed they only took a point from home games versus Exeter and Yeovil but says it has been a good start to the season overall and their away form has been excellent.
