Accrington Stanley keeper Jason Mooney has given Pompey an FA Cup warning by telling them his team have improved since they drew at Fratton earlier in the season.

Stanley were the second of five teams to date who have left Fratton with a point - they drew 0-0 here in League Two in September. They will be back in December in the second round of the FA Cup.

Mooney said: 'In some ways, you want to draw a team you don’t play regularly but we have drawn Portsmouth and now we will prepare for that. It’s a team we know, a team we have played recently and it’s a good stadium with a large crowd. When we played there in the league we drew 0-0 and I think we have improved since then.

'They are in a similar league position to us so it should be a good game. The gaffer (John Coleman) obviously knows their management team well and some of their players and so he will know their ways and their tricks so we will go there and be positive.

'If we can go there, play like we did last time and nick a goal then that will suit us!'

The round-two draw came after Adam McGurk, scorer of the two goals that dumped Macclesfield out on Saturday, admitted he and the team could do better than they did in the first-round win.

He told the club website: 'The goals are the positive thing for me to take from that game because I thought my performance was poor. Kyle Bennett slipped me in for the first and luckily it went in off the post and then I managed to tuck away the second.

'We're through to the next round, which is something that Pompey haven't achieved for a few years, but everyone knows that we can do better than that.'

Pompey return to league action this Sunday when AFC Wimbledon visit.
