Missing out on promotion seems to have done nothing to dim fans' desire to watch Pompey.

The club reported steady sales of season tickets on their first day - ahead of the same stage last season.

A club spokesman said: "A long queue had already formed by the time the ticket office opened at 10am, with a steady stream of supporters turning up as the day progressed. Excitement is clearly already building for the 2016/17 campaign, with the number of seats already snapped up approaching 1,000 — many of them by new season ticket holders.

'That is comfortably more than the number which were sold across the first five days of sale last year. Pompey have frozen season ticket prices for a fourth successive season, with adults continuing to pay just £320 (£300 for PST shareholders) and fans aged 17 or under paying only £80 (£75 for PST shareholders).'

The club said the Frogmore Road ticket office would be open from 10am-5pm on weekdays and will also be selling season tickets from 11am-3pm this Saturday (June 4).

Fans renewing their seats can also do so online or by calling Quaytickets — open from 9am-9pm seven days a week — on 0333 320 0750. New season tickets can only be bought by visiting the ticket office or calling Pompey on 0345 646 1898 during office hours.
