Patience may be Pompey's key word against Wycombe
Friday, 9th Sep 2016 22:18 by pompey-fans.com staff

Milan Lalkovic was one of the stars of Pompey's win over Crawley - but he is not running away with big ideas about the success either he or the team basked in a week ago.

The winger is set to get the nod to start again but warns that patience could be the key as Wycombe Wanderers visit Fratton on Saturday afternoon.

He told www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: 'We had a great win last week, but every game is different and we need to make sure we’re up for it again on Saturday. If we take the same approach against Wycombe then we should do well and hopefully get the result we’re looking for.

'We got an early goal and that helps because it opens teams up, but we have to be patient if that doesn’t happen. Everybody gets frustrated — fans and players — when things don’t go your way, but the important thing is to keep believing.

'We’ve won three games in a row and now we just want to stay positive and keep that run going. It would be nice to extend it to four this early in the season and we’re just taking it game by game at the moment. '

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth is bullish about his team's chances despite their slow start to the season. He told getbucks.co.uk: 'I'm sure we can get a result down there. We need to start getting points on the board and we need to start at Portsmouth.

'I'm positive going into the game, but have to make sure we don't make sure we're better and don't make the same mistakes we did at Luton. We'll fight down at Portsmouth and I'm hoping to get a few points on the board down there. We'll be working hard to get back to winning ways.'

Those pressing Paul Cook for a start against the Chairboys include fit-again defender Mat Clarke and off-the-transfer-list wideman Kal Naismith.
