Winger gets on with Pompey job despite interest from elsewhere
Monday, 19th Sep 2016 22:15 by pompey-fans.com staff

Kyle Bennett has pledged to work hard to try to keep his regained place in the Pompey starting line-up.

The winger was back in the team at Accrington although he couldn't help the Blues stave off a disappointing defeat.

It is reported that Bennett has attracted interest from Ipswich in recen weeks but he said that was not affecting his commitment to Pompey.

Bennett told The News: ‘I’m a professional footballer and I want to play football matches. The manager picks the team and saw fit to play me. I tried to grab that opportunity. Hopefully I’ve done enough to keep my place - if not I’ll continue to cheer the team on from the bench or in the stand.

‘I don’t really like watching football, but which player does? I’ll never sulk about it. I’ll get my head down at the training ground and try to get him to pick me. You have to conduct yourself that way. Some people may choose not to, but that’s their choice.

‘Everyone has a choice about what they want to do and I’m not one to blame. You just have to go out there and show the manager why you should be playing.’

Bennett said the Ipswich situation was not really for him to comment on.
