Some days we're good, some we're bad - Pompey boss
Thursday, 8th Dec 2016 21:37 by pompey-fans.com staff

Paul Cook thought Pompey would be heading into their recent two-week break on a high - then came the Stevenage game.

And that 2-1 home defeat and the ruck that saw Michael Doyle and Christian Burgess subbed at the interval has meant the time between games has dragged.

Cook admits that day turned a positive air into a negative one, but is hopeful they can get right back on track when they go to Grimsby on Saturday.

The manager told the club website: 'We were doing well and were four games unbeaten looking forward to a little break, but it all went wrong against Stevenage. In a heartbeat we’ve gone from feeling so positive about ourselves to so negative. It’s been a difficult couple of weeks.

'We’re an inconsistent team at the moment — on some days we’re very good and on others we look bad. The sooner we can eradicate that and perhaps find some kind of middle ground, the better it will be for us all.

'You have to pick yourself up, although it’s hard after a defeat. It takes a bit of time, but we’re over it now and looking forward to facing Grimsby. We’re fourth in the league and we’re doing the best we can to get promoted, but there’s still a long way to go.'

Jack Whatmough and Curtis Main will be absent from the squad with injury.
