Fratton End strike would be a high for Lowe
Fratton End strike would be a high for Lowe

A goal at the Fratton End is Jamal Lowe's next aim after he made his Blues debut in the second half of the win over Leyton Orient.

The recruit from Hampton and Richmond is champing at the bit now he has had his first taste of action but knows he may have to wait for a start if the team keep winning.

Lowe, 22, told the club website: 'I’ve been waiting a while — but it was well worth the wait. It was great to get out on the pitch. It’s nice to feel welcomed by the supporters and know that they’re glad to see me here. I heard them cheering even when I went out to warm up.

'The coaches came out at half-time and told me to get ready, which was a bit of a surprise, but I was buzzing. I’ve never played in a stadium as big as Fratton Park or in front of so many fans before, so it was an amazing feeling.

'To score at the Fratton End would be a complete joke, so that’s got to be my aim now!'

Lowe added: 'You can’t expect the gaffer to change a winning side too much, so I just have to work hard and wait for my chance. Hopefully I’ll be able to get into the side at some point, though, and I just want to get as many appearances and as many goals as I can to help the team go up.

'That’s what all the boys want, though — we’ve all got the same target and are all pushing in the same direction.'

Lowe is likely to be on the bench again when Pompey go to Crawley on Saturday.
