Complacency? Not here thanks...
Monday, 3rd Apr 2017 21:50 by pompey-fans.com staff

There will be no complacency. That's the vow from one of Pompey's key men as they edge towards promotion to League One.

Christian Burgess says the players know they must not take their eye off the ball despite a run of five wins in six which has left them needing 13 points at the most to guarantee automatic promotion.

The centre-half told the club website: 'It’s important to keep building on this momentum that we’re gathering. We certainly can’t afford to get complacent because there are sides immediately below us on good runs as well.

'It’s another huge game in front of our own fans against Yeovil next Saturday and hopefully we can carry on where we left off. There are six games to go and we know anything can happen, but we’re determined to just keep winning.

'You don’t know what the teams around you are going to do, so we have to stay focused on ourselves and try to be consistent.'

Pompey host Yeovil on Saturday and Plymouth six days later on Good Friday.

Meanwhile Pompey Reserves' fine run in the Premier League Cup goes on - they beat Colchester under-23s 2-0 at Westleigh Park thanks to goals by Nicke Kabamba and Jamal Lowe to surge into the semi-finals.
