Talisman gives Pompey a big pre-Blackburn boost
Thursday, 19th Oct 2017 21:55 by pompey-fans.com staff

Brett Pitman could be back for Pompey at Blackburn on Saturday.

The top scorer has been out since the end of September but has recovered from knee surgery faster than expected.

Oliver Hawkins and Curtis Main have both done well in his absence but Pitman would surely play if 100 per cent fit as the Blues look to bounce back from their midweek defeat at Doncaster.

Kenny Jackett revealed the good news about Pitman as he looked ahead to the prospect of facing one of the division's favourites for promotion.

He told www.portsmouthfc.co.uk: 'They’re (Blackburn are) a club who came out of the Championship, but will have aspirations of going straight back up. Blackburn are used to being in the higher echelons and haven't been at this level much in the past, but they are where they are.

'It’s a great place for us to go and it’s a game that we should all look forward to if we want to climb the divisions. Ewood Park is a good ground with a decent atmosphere and after a frustrating evening at Doncaster, we’re doubly determined to return to winning ways.

'They’ve got a strong squad of players, but we don’t want a second successive defeat and we always aim to win football matches.'
